What We Offer

Frequently Asked Questions

How much will mediation cost?

The fee starts from £85 per session for those earning under £30,000 gross per annum. Find out more about our fees here: FMS fees per person

Is family mediation free?

The cost of family mediation is dependent on your income and is subsidised so that everyone can access mediation at our family mediation centre. Those who are unemployed or on a low income, we will seek to obtain legal services commission funding to assist you so that you do not have to pay for the free mediation service. Please call us on 0300 365 2700 to discuss your circumstances if you think you would be unable to afford the cost of our mediation but would like to use the free mediation service.

How does family mediation work?

In family mediation, you and your family members explain your concerns and needs to each other and often the matters relate to access, custody of children or finance settlements. The independent mediator gives you a safe and neutral setting to talk and they won’t take sides. The mediator helps you to reach an agreement without taking sides. Independent family mediators are trained to make sure that they hear both sides of the argument and our mediation process will also use biblical principles to guide you both if you wish. We have a complaints procedure you can follow if you are not happy with the service offered in our family mediation centre.

Usually, all information you may give during the mediation process is private. There are some exceptions, such as if the welfare of a child is at risk. In these cases, information can be passed on to the authorities (like social services) to protect the child e.g. in a custody of children case.

Will I get a court form or certificate?

Yes, we provided a mediator signed court form as part of your MIAM fee

Do I need to contact the other side?

No, we take care of that and give them 14 days to respond to us. If you prefer, you can
send a polite message saying “I have contacted a mediation company to help us
communicate and they will be in touch but if they want to reach out, their number is 0300
365 2700.

Are family mediation agreements legally binding?

Any agreement made through family mediation is not legally binding but can become binding through a simple court application. You can always take legal advice about an agreement you’ve reached in family mediation at our family mediation centre before you make it final. If you want to make the agreement legally binding, you can use it to apply to the court for a ‘consent order’. This is usually a minimal cost.

Who are our family mediators?

Our independent family mediators come from a wide range of backgrounds, including law, healthcare, therapy and other professions working with families and children. A family mediator is trained to work with people whose relationships have broken down and they offer biblical peacekeeping skills as part of the private or free family mediation service.

Real Stories: How Our Services Transformed Lives

“I chose mediation with Prime Time because it was local to me and convenient to get to whilst I was pregnant. I looked it up online beforehand and I felt that the information was informative, relevant and exactly what I was looking for. The mediator was very helpful and supportive. I was able to share my feelings with her openly and she made me feel better than I had before. It was very uplifting and it helped me move forward with my life, build my faith and believe that good things could be possible in my future. I would recommend mediation with Prime Time to other people as I think it’s possible to get a great result.”

“I picked Prime Time for my mediation because it’s local and was highly recommended to me by someone I trust. The service I received was very helpful and I was able to get information about my personal circumstances as well as the legal support I was entitled to. I got a referral to a solicitor which was extremely helpful and which I hadn’t known I could access before. The prayer in particular was amazing. I am Muslim and the prayers I received helped me to feel relaxed and hopeful for the future. Even though I had some different beliefs to the mediator we were able to find strength in a mutual God.”
